ABC is one network I almost never watch, not even
The George López
Show,
al though I do like him a lot. The last time I can remember
turning it on was for some award show or sports program.
This Wednesday, I will definitely turn on ABC and watch a program --
with my kids -- that I am hopeful will one day be produced
locally in Puerto Rico. The show premiering next week is
called 'Brat
Camp' and
although I haven't seen the show yet -- the concept is great and the
educational value to parents and kids is something that, if the show
is done well, will actually teach while it entertains. I sure
hope that's what ABC had in mind when they developed the program.
Here's what ABC has
to say about the program . . .
«What
would you do with a teen who curses at you, breaks the law in your
house and doesn't listen to anything you say? That's the dilemma
facing nine families dealing with out-of-control teenagers - whose
ages range from 14-17 -- and with issues from ADHD to drugs,
promiscuity and fights, in the new reality series Brat Camp. The
nine families make a tough choice and send their kids to SageWalk,
The Wilderness School, in the wilds of Oregon for a period of more
than fifty days, in the desperate hope that, once it's over, they'll
get back the children they once knew.
A special two-hour
premiere of Brat Camp airs this coming Wednesday from 8 - 10 PM
PR/ET. Its regular time slot will be Wednesdays from 9:00-10:00 PM
PR/ET.
In the premiere, we meet
the kids as they arrive at SageWalk, learn about their issues and
see their defiance in action, as they're confronted for the first
time with the harsh realities of camp life. Forced to hike 10 miles
with 40-lb. backpacks, the kids celebrate Thanksgiving in the
wilderness without family, and with the ultimate question being
whether they'll make it home for Christmas.
Brat Camp is from
Shapiro/Grodner Productions, with Arnold Shapiro and Allison Grodner
serving as executive producers, and John Platt as co-executive
producer. Brat Camp is based on the award-winning U.K. series from
Twenty Twenty Productions, with Peter Casely-Hayford, Jamie Isaacs,
Claudia Milne and Mark Rowland serving as executive producers.

This is the 38th
commentary I have actually published on my website. The first
37 are listed below by date AND title, just in case you are a
politician and have yet to EMBRACE my way of thinking and finally
WAKE UP and REALIZE that NOTHING YOU ALL ARE DOING IS WORKING TOO
WELL -- BUT ONLY FOR 20 OR 30 YEARS NOW. Puerto Rico NEEDS VERY
LITTLE in order to achieve the greatness EASILY attainable by it's
people -- a greatness that will one day be recognized and emulated
throughout the world.
What country has
Puerto Rico been emulating for the past 20 - 30 years?
The problem isn't the
people -- it's the politicians who HAVE LET DOWN THE PEOPLE for TOO
LONG and COUNTING . . .

The Puerto Rico 'Brat Camp' TV program can have two versions -- one for actual Puerto Rican teens and the other for Puerto Rican politicians. This way 10 or 20 years from now, none of Puerto Rico's teenagers will emulate and/or feel great despair being represented by a bunch of whining, spoiled, arrogant, lying, ADHD-like, ego-maniacal, conceited, selfish, hateful, vulgar, back-stabbing, sex motel-frequenting, spouse-abusing, money-laundering, dope-dealing, e-mail ignoring, la bolita-playing and/or substance-abusing elected officials. If you plan on voting this Sunday, your best bet would be to vote AGAINST what the majority of politicians want -- and you probably cannot go wrong. Now, don't think I am singling out Puerto Rico's politicians -- I am not. The above mentioned "qualities" are also just as prevalent with politicians from The United States -- except I don't think they play the same version of la bolita. Anyway, if you look at the ABC 'Brat Camp' website and read all the cast bios, you will quickly notice -- NOW SIT DOWN BEFORE YOU READ ANY FURTHER -- BETTER YET, GET A GLASS OF WATER AND A PILLOW, JUST IN CASE YOU FEEL FAINT FROM THE SHOCKING NEWS I AM GOING TO NOW MENTION TO YOU ABOUT 'BRAT CAMP' -- As far as I can tell, there are NO BLACKS or LATINOS in the cast AND unless Frank is something like half Italian and half Chinese -- there may or may not be an ASIAN in the cast either.
There is no truth to the
rumor --the one I am starting this morning-- that ABC stands for
Anything But Color.
This concludes the
reality portion of my commentary.
Well, that's all folks! Until next Friday. |
